On the deepest, darkest and longest night of the year we return to school as the suns sets to gather together in silence. We hear tales and sing songs about the cold darkness and how the days will now slowly grow longer and longer. One tiny match is struck. The flame is passed and candles and lanterns blaze alight. Wrapped in scarves and beanies we light the way around the oval and gather outside for a blazing finale to signal Spring is finally on her way.
