Our Winter Festival is one of our most exciting and beautiful festivals. Its purpose is to focus on coming together as a community to weather the cold and celebrate the passing of mid-winter. It landed right on the Winter Solstice night. Throughout the term students worked on creating their lanterns and practicing the winter songs. Students returned to school after dark and gathered in the gym to watch the class six students walk the spiral and light their candles. After singing and listening to a story told, students had their lanterns lit and we then went to the fire sculpture and sung our final songs as we watched it be lit, then we walked the track around the oval with our lanterns.
The foliage, and sculpture were generously donated by parents, and the entire event is a testament to the beautiful community in the stream and school.
