Sheidow Park School Sports Day is designed for students to be physically active, have fun and work successfully in a team environment. We have 4 House Teams, Hardy – Yellow, Morphett- purple, Reynell- Red and O’Halloran – Blue. These teams are lead by House Captains in years 5 and 6. The Captains create chants and a Health Hustle to begin the day and assist with activity planning, set up and helping their teams.
Activities are created for students to practise their fundamental movement skills and teamwork in an exciting and unique way. Activities can differ year to year dependent on student feedback and age. Primary students participate in long jump, high jump, vortex throw, relays and tag games. Junior Primary students participate in parachute, obstacle courses and a variety of relays including sack jumping and water relays. Each year we incorporate an exciting incursion such as trampolines or gymnastics. Most students compete in a sprint during the day with distance dependent on age. We finish the sport events with a thrilling whole school relay. The school community then has lunch before we award a Relay trophy, School Spirit award and Sports Day winner.
