On Wednesday pikachu visited students before school which was a great way to begin our Japan Day. Throughout the day students had a great day immersing themselves in Japanese cultural activities. We saw students making bookmarks, playing with Japanese children’s toys, playing an outside game that Japanese school children play called tamaire, unpacked a suitcase from Japan, watched a tea ceremony and was able to try green tea and a rice cake, wear some Japanese traditional clothes and played with chopsticks. All students were also able to attend a performance by Wasabi Kids which explored Japanese seasons, a folktale and dancing in the first performance. The second performance introduced students to ninja and samurai in Japan.
It was a fun day had by all.
